Rayleigh-Bénard turbulence is one of the most actively investigated research topics in fluid dynamics. Examples of turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection can be found in the atmosphere, in oceans, in the core and mantle of planets, including our Earth, and also in the outer layer of stars, including our Sun. Apart from the relevance for astrophysics, geophysics and meteorology, turbulent thermal convection is also important for engineering, where industrial investigations of heat transfer aim at the development of more effective and safe heating or cooling devices to reduce energy consumption.

Following the workshops and conferences in Santa Barbara (2000), Ilmenau (2001), Leiden (2003), Trieste (2006), Les Houches (2010) and Hong Kong (2012), the International Conference on Rayleigh-Bénard Turbulence 2015 will be hosted 1-5 June, 2015 at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization in Göttingen, Germany.

The purpose of this conference is to provide a forum to discuss the recent developments in the study of Rayleigh-Bénard turbulence and to strengthen the collaborations among researchers working in related fields.
