Available positions

The Max-Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-organization invites applications for these positions available in the Laboratory of Fluid Physics, Pattern Formation and Biocomplexity.

Applicants for the Ph.D postion should hold a master degree in Physics or related disciplines from a recognized University. Applicants for the Postdoctoral position should hold a Ph.D degree in Physics or related discipline from a recognized University.

The applicants should also have good communication skills to participate in the collaborative work.

The successful candidates will perform research on the following subjects:

  1. The Lagrangian aspects of turbulent flow in the Göttingen High Pressure Wind tunnel
  2. The interaction between the droplets in clouds and the turbulence flow
  3. Turbulence in polymer solution
  4. Particle dynamics in the fully developed turbulence of simple and complex fluids
  5. Pattern formation, spatiotemporal chaos, and turbulence in thermal convection.

We provide excellent working conditions for experimentalists and theorists. Our Lab is equipped with high-speed cameras, LDV systems, Tomo-PIV system, high power/repetition rate lasers, rheometers, Goettingen High Pressure Facility and several other turbulence generators. Our Lab collaborates with other turbulence groups over the world through the International Collaboration for Turbulence Research (ICTR).

Interested candidates with relevant expertise should send a statement of interests together with CV, publication list, and two reference letters, preferably by e-mail to Prof. Eberhard Bodenschatz
