Collaborations
Group of Gregor Eichele - Genes and Behavior
The department of Gregor Eichele at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry investigates various aspects of the interplay between gene expression, development and behavior, as well as chronobiolgy. In 2011 we (Regina Faubel [now University of Pittsburgh, PA], Eberhard Bodenschatz, Gregor Eichele and myself) have established a now long living collaboration between the two departments. We work on different aspects and questions regarding the cilia mediated flow of the cerebrospinal fluid in the third ventricle of the brain. The collaboration is currently continued with the PhD students Shoba Kapoor and Ann-Kathrin Guenther (both Genes and Behavior), as well as Yong Wang from our institute.
Group of Karen Alim - Biological Physics and MorphogenesisThe independent Max-Planck Research Group led by Karin Alim in our institute investigates the mechanics of plant growth, as well as Fluid Physics of the slime mold Physarum polycephalum. As I worked with that organism during my PostDoc in Graz we share and profit from each others expertises. Currently, we work together on the chemotaxis of Physarum polycephalum.
Gabriel Amselem - Ecole Polytechnique, Paris.Gabriel Amselem is a former PhD student of Eberhard Bodenschatz (as well as a former colleague of Karen Alim). He currently works in the Interfaces, Bio-Engineering & Microfluidics group of Charles Baroud. We share similar scientific interests (Microfluidics, Biology of Physarum polycephalum and Dictyostelium discoideum) and continue to work together on single cell stimulation.
