Laura

Dr. Laura Turco is the leader of "Microfluidics and Medical Applications" group in the Department of Prof. Bodenschatz. After her MSc in Biomedical Engineering (Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine) at Politecnico di Milano she obtained her PhD in Biophysics at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization.

In the Laboratory for Fluid, Pattern Formation and Biocomplexity she studies cardiac contractile dynamics focusing on the mechano-electrical coupling, connectivity between cardiomyocytes and fibroblasts, and the influence of external stimuli on cellular functional and morphological changes. She is also involved in the design and fabrication of microfluidic platforms for synthetic biology, biomedical applications, and 3D printing.
