Dr. Jan Molacek is the group leader of the group studying Particles in Turbulence at the Laboratory for Fluids, Pattern Formation and Biocomplexity. He studied mathematics at the University of Cambridge (UK), where he received his BA and MMath degrees. In 2013 he received his PhD in applied mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, USA) for his experimental and theoretical investigations of droplets bouncing and walking on a vibrating liquid bath. He joined the institute in September 2013 as a postdoctoral researcher, initially to pursue experimental investigations of warm and mixed-phase clouds at the research station Schneefernerhaus (UFS) near Zugspitze.
