Marko

I obtained my MSc in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and I started in October 2013 as a PhD-student working on "Mechanics and dynamics of cardiac fibrosis: contractile motion of single and collective cells". I am studying the contractile dynamics of co-cultures of myocytes and fibroblasts. The aim of the PhD project is to understand the electromechanical coupling and connectivity of these co-cultures, varying fibroblast fractions. Quantitative results, obtained using Electrical-Cell-substrate Impedance Sensing (ECIS), are combined with optical techniques like Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence Microscopy (TRFM) and Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM).
